"The Woman" is a psychological horror film directed by Lucky McKee and based on the novel of the same name by Jack Ketchum. It tells the chilling story of a lawyer named Chris Cleek who captures a feral woman and attempts to civilize her against her will.

Chris Cleek is a seemingly successful and respected lawyer living with his wife Belle, three children – daughter Peggy, son Brian, and teenage daughter Darlin'. While out hunting in the woods, Chris encounters a feral woman who is part of a violent clan living in the wilderness. Intrigued by this discovery, Chris takes it upon himself to capture and domesticate her.

Bringing the woman to his basement, Chris and his family, initially unaware of his intentions, are stunned by his sudden erratic behavior. It becomes apparent that Chris intends to "tame" the woman through various methods of control, manipulation, and at times, extreme violence. He brutally confines her and forces her to conform to his ideas of civilization, believing that he is doing the right thing by saving her from her primal instincts.

As the days pass and tensions rise, his family begins to question Chris's actions and the morality of the situation. His wife, Belle, who has been oblivious to the woman's captivity, starts to uncover the dark secrets behind her husband's behavior. Meanwhile, Peggy and Brian also become conflicted, struggling to reconcile their love for their father with the horror unfolding before them.

As the nature of the woman's captivity is exposed, conflicts within the family escalate. Belle makes desperate attempts to protect both her children and the captive woman. Peggy, who is incensed by her father's actions, attempts to free the woman, while Darlin' slowly begins to sympathize with her. Caught in the middle, Brian is torn between his loyalty towards his father and his growing empathy for the woman.

The movie delves into the themes of abuse, power, and the dark side of human nature. It examines the boundaries of civilization, forcing viewers to question who the real monsters are in this story.

Without revealing the entire plot, "The Woman" is a disturbing and thought-provoking film that explores the consequences of one man's attempt to forcibly tame a wild creature, while putting his own family in grave danger.
