In Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers, a former U.S. Air Force pilot, finds herself as a part of an elite military team known as "Starforce" on the Kree Empire's capital planet, Hala. She has no recollection of her past and is told by her mentor, Yon-Rogg, that she has special powers due to an experimental Kree device called the "Supreme Intelligence."
During a mission against a hostile alien race called the Skrulls, Carol is captured and subjected to a memory probe by the Skrull leader, Talos. However, the memories brought to the surface don't make sense to her. She escapes from the Skrulls' spacecraft and crash-lands on Earth, specifically Los Angeles, in 1995.
On Earth, she meets a young S.H.I.E.L.D. agent named Nick Fury, who is initially skeptical of her claims but eventually decides to help her. Carol and Fury form an unlikely alliance as they work together to uncover the truth about her past and stop the Skrulls from infiltrating Earth.
