In the movie Sleep Dealer, the story revolves around three main characters: Memo, Luz, and Rudy. Memo Cruz is a young farmer from a small village in Mexico, whose life changes dramatically when his father is killed by a military drone while trying to protect their crops. Fearing for his life, Memo is forced to leave his family and home behind to find work in the city.

In this futuristic world, physical labor is replaced by "sleep dealers" - individuals who remotely control robot workers called "cybernetic laborers." These laborers are connected to the operators' minds, allowing them to perform tasks from a distance. Memo becomes a sleep dealer and, through a neural implant, is able to control a robot worker to perform various jobs.

Meanwhile, Luz is a talented journalist from Tijuana, Mexico, who uses a hacked device to record her experiences and upload them to the global digital network. She dreams of getting a job at a media company in the United States. However, due to the closed borders and strict immigration policies, she is unable to physically cross them.

Rudy Ramirez, on the other hand, is a young hacker living in the city who, through his technological skills, is able to tap into the global digital network and record people's memories and experiences without their knowledge. He becomes fascinated with Luz's recordings and starts tracking her.

As their lives intertwine, Memo meets Luz at a cybercafe while using his sleep-dealing device. They become friends and Luz convinces Memo to let her document his experiences working as a sleep dealer. They travel together, visiting cybernetic labor factories and experiencing the dangers and oppression faced by many workers.

At the same time, Rudy becomes obsessed with Luz and comes to believe that her memories hold the key to unlocking the full potential of the global digital network. He sets out to capture both Luz and Memo, believing that by merging their experiences, he can create a revolutionary connection between minds.

As the plot progresses, Memo, Luz, and Rudy find themselves caught in a dangerous cat-and-mouse game, with high stakes and intense confrontations. They must navigate the militarized world, evading security forces and facing personal sacrifices, as they strive to break the barriers of technology and connect with each other on a deeper level.

The movie Sleep Dealer explores themes of technology, immigration, exploitation, and the human desire for connection in a future world where borders are closed and virtual realities dominate.
