After Lucia (Después de Lucía) is a Mexican drama film directed by Michel Franco. The film follows the story of Alejandra and her father Roberto as they navigate their new lives in a different town.

Shortly after moving, Alejandra's mother, Lucia, tragically dies in a car accident. The grieving father and daughter try to support each other while dealing with their immense loss. To help her father move on, Alejandra suggests they start anew and enroll her in a new school. This decision marks the beginning of their journey to rebuild their lives in an unfamiliar environment.

However, Alejandra soon realizes that starting over at a new school is not as easy as she had hoped. She falls victim to the relentless bullying and humiliation of her classmates, who make her a target of constant abuse and harassment. The bullying escalates to a horrifying level, as her classmates film and share a video of her being sexually assaulted during a party.

In a desperate attempt to protect herself and cope with the trauma, Alejandra withdraws emotionally and becomes increasingly isolated. Her father, oblivious to what she is going through, struggles to connect with his daughter, buried under his own grief and the demands of his new job.

As the abuse intensifies, Alejandra's mental and emotional state deteriorates rapidly, and the film explores the devastating effects of bullying on her psyche. Eventually, the appalling reality of the situation is revealed to Roberto, and he is confronted with the horrifying truth of his daughter's torment.

After Lucia delves into the themes of grief, resilience, and the destructive nature of bullying. It sheds light on the harrowing psychological aftermath of such traumatic experiences and emphasizes the importance of understanding and addressing the issue. The film portrays the heartbreaking journey of a father and daughter fighting to heal and find a way forward from the darkness that has consumed their lives.
