Days of Glory, also known as Indigenes, is a 2006 war film directed by Rachid Bouchareb. The movie tells the courageous story of four North African soldiers fighting alongside the French army during World War II. These soldiers, Abdelkader, Saïd, Messaoud, and Yassir, enlist to liberate their country from Nazi oppression, but also to prove their worth and fight against the discrimination they face as colonial subjects.

The story begins in 1943 as the four men are recruited from their native countries, Morocco and Algeria, to join the French army and fight against the Axis powers. Despite their different backgrounds and personalities, they quickly bond and form a strong brotherhood, with their shared struggles forging a deep camaraderie.

As they head to the warfront, the soldiers face not only the brutality of war but also racism and marginalization within the French ranks. They experience disparities in treatment, lower wages, and are often relegated to more dangerous duties. Despite these challenges, they prove their bravery and determination on numerous occasions, earning the respect of their comrades and officers.

During their journey through Italy and the South of France, the four men endure harrowing battles, witnessing the horrors of war and losing many friends along the way. They remain committed to the cause, determined to free their homelands and fight for their rights as equal citizens.

Days of Glory also portrays the soldiers' personal lives, highlighting their relationships with family back home as well as their romantic interactions. The war takes a toll on their emotional well-being, and they grapple with homesickness, longing, and the fear of never returning.

Towards the end of the war, after numerous sacrifices and triumphs, the soldiers face disillusionment when they discover that the French government does not intend to fulfill their promises of equality and liberation. The film reaches its climax as the soldiers confront their superiors, demanding change and the recognition they deserve for their sacrifices.

Days of Glory draws attention to the forgotten contributions of North African colonial troops during World War II while shedding light on the discrimination they encountered. Through its powerful storytelling and captivating performances, the film emphasizes the struggle for dignity, justice, and equality, both on and off the battlefield.
