The story follows two American soldiers, Staff Sergeant Shane Matthews (played by John Cena) and Sergeant Allen Isaac (played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson), who are tasked with investigating a pipeline construction site in the desert of Iraq. While on their mission, they find themselves under attack by an unseen sniper.

The film begins with the soldiers arriving at the site, only to discover the corpses of the contractors who were working there. Realizing there is danger nearby, Matthews and Isaac take cover behind a crumbling wall for protection. As they assess the situation, they soon realize that the sniper is an extremely skilled Iraqi marksman who has been targeting them.

Locked in this deadly cat-and-mouse game, the soldiers try to locate and neutralize the hidden enemy. Throughout the film, the sniper, known as Juba (played by Laith Nakli), taunts them by mimicking their radio frequencies and engaging in psychological warfare. He seeks to exploit their fears and weaknesses, playing mind games to wear them down emotionally and physically.

As the situation intensifies, Isaac, pinned down and severely injured, becomes the sole target of Juba. With limited ammunition and unable to call for reinforcements due to their broken radio, Isaac must rely on his training and wits to survive. Determined to protect his injured comrade and make it out alive, Matthews must find a way to outsmart the enemy sniper despite the overwhelming odds stacked against them.

It delves into the complexities of warfare and the psychological impact it has on soldiers, highlighting the tremendous pressure they face when engaged in combat with a ruthless adversary.
