After successfully splicing together human and animal DNA, Elsa and Clive face immense scrutiny and ethical debates within the scientific community. Despite the controversy, they continue their secret experiment, raising Dren in a secluded laboratory.

As Dren grows, she becomes increasingly intelligent and exhibits both human and animal behaviors. Elsa and Clive struggle to contain Dren's aggression and unpredictable nature. However, Elsa sees Dren as an opportunity to redeem herself from past failures and works to raise her responsibly, while Clive becomes more apprehensive about their creation.

As Dren matures, she begins to develop physical changes, transforming into an androgynous creature with wings. Elsa becomes fascinated with her creation and starts forming a maternal bond with Dren, treating her like a daughter, even going as far as secretly injecting her own genetic material into Dren.

However, tensions rise when Dren becomes sexually mature and displays a sexual attraction towards Clive. Consumed by jealousy, Elsa attempts to control Dren's behavior, resulting in Dren turning on her. In a fit of rage, Dren kills Elsa, leaving Clive devastated.

Alone and frightened, Dren seeks solace with Clive, who initially rejects her advances. However, as the danger surrounding them increases, Clive begins to empathize with Dren's plight and eventually engages in a sexual encounter with her. Their relationship becomes an intense mix of desire, guilt, and fear as they navigate their newfound connection.

When their experiments are discovered, Clive and Dren become fugitives on the run. They seek refuge in a dilapidated barn, where Dren becomes gravely ill. Clive realizes that Dren's lifespan is rapidly accelerating due to genetic modifications, causing her body to deteriorate.

In a heartbreaking moment, Clive euthanizes Dren, ending her suffering. Distraught and remorseful, Clive is left to question the consequences of playing god.

In the movie's poignant conclusion, Clive receives a package from Elsa, posthumously delivered. The package contains a fertilized egg, implying Elsa had harvested her own genetic material and left behind another potential Dren-like creature. The film ends with Clive holding the package, leaving the audience to ponder the ethical implications and potential continuation of their dangerous experimentation.
