In the movie Rio Conchos, Captain Haven (played by Richard Boone) and Sergeant Franklyn (played by Stuart Whitman) are the two Army officers assigned to a daring mission in Mexico. Haven is battling alcoholism and harbors deep personal guilt from his time as a soldier during the Civil War, while Franklyn is a charming and womanizing Mexican who brings a sense of lightheartedness to the mission.

Their mission is to infiltrate a hidden fortress and stop an ex-Confederate colonel named Pardee (played by Edmond O'Brien) from selling a large cache of stolen rifles to a brutal group of Apache warriors. These rifles would drastically tip the balance of power in the region, leading to widespread devastation and bloodshed.

Haven and Franklyn encounter a diverse group of individuals throughout their journey. They enlist the help of a beautiful and resourceful woman named Lisa (played by Wende Wagner), who is seeking revenge against Pardee for the murder of her husband.

As they venture deeper into the treacherous Mexican landscape, they face numerous obstacles and dangers. They must overcome treacherous desert conditions, face off against hostile Apache warriors, and navigate complex alliances and betrayal among other characters they encounter along the way.

Through their determination and resourcefulness, Haven, Franklyn, and Lisa gradually uncover Pardee's devious plan and attempt to thwart it. The movie climaxes in an action-packed final showdown, where they must confront Pardee and his men in a thrilling gunfight.

Rio Conchos explores themes of redemption, loyalty, and the consequences of war. It showcases the personal journeys of its main characters as they grapple with their own demons and strive to make amends for their past actions.
