"Ek Je Chhilo Raja" is a Bengali drama film directed by Srijit Mukherji, released in 2018. The movie is inspired by true events and revolves around the mysterious story of the middle prince of the Bhawal Estate, Mahendra Kumar Choudhuri.

The film dives into the story by introducing the Bhawal Estate, known as the Bikrampur Estate, located in British India. Mahendra Kumar Choudhuri, the middle prince, is married to Chandrabati Devi. Unfortunately, Mahendra contracts syphilis, a sexually transmitted disease, and is taken to Darjeeling for treatment along with Chandrabati, his brother-in-law Satya, and their family doctor Ashwini.

Tragically, Mahendra apparently dies in Darjeeling and is cremated there. The story then jumps forward 12 years when a mysterious Sanyasi, a wandering ascetic, arrives at the Bhawal Estate. His striking resemblance to the late prince Mahendra sparks curiosity among the people, leading to rumors that he might be the lost prince.

The Sanyasi's arrival sets off a chain of events, unraveling the complex web woven by the royal family. The film explores the relationships, secrets, and power dynamics within the estate as different individuals try to prove or disprove the Sanyasi's identity.

As the story unfolds, flashbacks and present-day investigations shed light on the truth behind Mahendra's alleged death. Lawyers, journalists, and the court become involved in the case, each presenting their perspectives and evidence.
