In the movie "The Brood," Frank Carveth, the husband, becomes increasingly concerned about the unconventional therapy techniques used by his estranged wife Nola's psychologist, Dr. Hal Raglan. Nola is currently institutionalized after suffering from severe emotional trauma.

As Frank investigates further, he discovers that Dr. Raglan's therapy sessions involve inducing psychosomatic physical manifestations in his patients, known as "psychoplasmics." This unique therapeutic approach allows patients to externalize their mental distress in the form of physical aberrations. Dr. Raglan believes this method will ultimately lead to their psychological healing.

Simultaneously, a series of violent and brutal attacks occur in the town, committed by a group of mutant children, called "The Brood." Their appearance and behavior are both disturbing and frightening. It becomes apparent that the occurrences coincide with Frank's investigation into Dr. Raglan's techniques.

Frank's search for the truth intensifies as he realizes that Nola is directly linked to the brood of mutant children. He discovers that Nola's suppressed anger and pain have manifested physically in the form of the brood. They are an extension of her feelings and act out her corrupted maternal instincts.

Facing the terrifying reality, Frank confronts Dr. Raglan, demanding that he stop his dangerous therapy methods. However, it soon becomes clear that the doctor himself has no control over the brood. They have become autonomous and uncontrollable creatures, hell-bent on carrying out their own agenda of violence and vengeance.

With his wife's life in constant danger, Frank must find a way to stop the brood and save Nola from her own internal demons. The film explores themes of suppressed emotions, the fragility of the human mind, and the consequences of unchecked psychological experimentation.

As the story reaches its climax, Frank battles the brood in a brutal confrontation, ultimately managing to eliminate them. However, the psychological damage done to Nola and their relationship is irreparable. Frank is left alone, having lost his wife to the horrors of her own mind and the manipulations of a misguided therapist.
