"Blinded by the Light" is based on the real-life experiences of British journalist Sarfraz Manzoor and his memoir "Greetings from Bury Park." The movie revolves around a Pakistani-British teenager named Javed Khan, who belongs to a tight-knit Muslim family living in Luton, England.

Set in 1987, Javed is struggling with the challenges of growing up in Thatcher's Britain, where economic recession, racism, and white nationalist groups are on the rise. Javed finds solace in writing poetry to express his thoughts and frustrations but feels suffocated by his strict father's expectations of following cultural traditions.

One day, a classmate introduces Javed to the music of Bruce Springsteen, and it completely changes his outlook on life. Javed becomes obsessed with Springsteen's lyrics and connects deeply with the themes of freedom, independence, and hope portrayed in his songs.

As Javed starts to find his own voice through Springsteen's music, he develops a rebellious spirit, using his newfound inspiration to challenge the societal norms that limit his ambitions. Confused by Javed's newfound passion and independence, his father vehemently disapproves, feeling threatened by the perceived Western influences in his son's life.

Javed's struggle to pursue his dreams is further complicated by his desire to have a blossoming relationship with a classmate named Eliza, who shares his love for writing. However, their different cultural backgrounds and the racist sentiments prevailing in the town create obstacles for their relationship.

Throughout the film, Javed navigates his way through racial tensions, family expectations, and personal self-discovery with the guidance of his supportive friend Roops, who encourages him to embrace his dreams and recognize his own worth.

In the end, "Blinded by the Light" portrays Javed's journey of self-acceptance, highlighting the transformative power of music, the importance of staying true to oneself, and the strength to overcome adversity to chase one's dreams.
