After Chanticleer leaves the farm, a young boy named Edmund suddenly finds himself in a world plunged into eternal darkness, as the sun no longer rises. Desperate to bring back daylight, Edmund embarks on a quest to find Chanticleer and convince him to return.
Edmund encounters various anthropomorphic animals throughout his journey, including a sassy cat named Goldie, a bumbling yet well-meaning dog named Patou, and a wise owl named Hunch. They join forces to help him find Chanticleer.
Meanwhile, Chanticleer, now a famous singer named "The King", is living the high life in the city of Las Vegas. Initially hesitant, Chanticleer eventually agrees to return to the farm after learning about the darkness plaguing his friends.
Returning to the farm, Chanticleer discovers the sinister owl, known as the Grand Duke of Owls, who has been orchestrating the darkness to obtain ultimate power over the animal kingdom. The Duke uses his dark magic to confront Chanticleer, intending to defeat him and solidify his reign.
With the help of Edmund and his animal friends, Chanticleer engages in a thrilling battle against the Grand Duke. Chanticleer eventually uses his crowing power, along with the belief and hope instilled by his friends, to defeat the Duke, banishing him and bringing back the sun.
In the end, Chanticleer realizes that his mere presence and courage were what mattered in bringing back the sun, rather than his actual crowing. He returns to his farm and reunites with the other animals, who celebrate their victory together, enjoying the return of sunlight and a brighter future.
