In the movie "Sputnik," set during the height of the Cold War in the 1980s, a Soviet spacecraft named "Sputnik" crash-lands on Earth after a mission failure. Konstantin Veshnyakov, a skilled astronaut and the commander of the spacecraft, miraculously becomes the sole survivor. However, it soon becomes evident that something extraordinary and threatening has accompanied him back from space.

As the Soviet authorities are puzzled by the inexplicable crash and the commander's survival, they bring in renowned psychologist Tatiana Klimova to evaluate Veshnyakov's mental state and assist in uncovering the truth. As Tatiana delves deeper into the commander's consciousness through psychotherapy sessions, she uncovers a disturbing secret.

It turns out that an alien creature has attached itself to Veshnyakov's body and acts as a symbiotic entity, granting him enhanced physical abilities, intelligence, and survival instincts. But as Tatiana investigates further, she realizes that this extraterrestrial organism, later known as a "symbiote," feeds on human brains to sustain itself and grow stronger.

With Veshnyakov becoming the unsuspecting host, Tatiana finds herself in a race against time to save him and prevent the symbiote from wreaking havoc on Earth. However, she soon faces opposition from the military and government officials who see the symbiote as a potential weapon to gain an advantage in the Cold War.

As Tatiana struggles to protect Veshnyakov's life and find a way to separate him from the alien creature, she unearths a government conspiracy involving the deliberate crash landing of the spacecraft and a cover-up hiding the true intentions behind the mission.

Caught in a battle against the unseen forces of power, Tatiana and Veshnyakov develop an unlikely bond and form a plan to expose the truth to the world. With time running out and the government closing in on them, they must choose between personal survival and sacrificing themselves to save humanity from a potential extraterrestrial invasion.

"Sputnik" is a suspenseful and thrilling sci-fi movie that explores the depths of human nature, the boundaries of scientific exploration, and the lengths people will go to protect their secrets, all against the backdrop of the intense Cold War era.
