In Palm Trees in the Snow, Kilian and his brother Jacobo arrive in Fernando Poo, eager to work in their father's cocoa plantation. As they settle in, they are introduced to a diverse and vibrant community on the island, including natives and other Spanish settlers.

Kilian soon meets and falls in love with Bisila, a local woman who becomes his passionate companion. However, their love is not without its challenges, as cultural and racial differences create tension in their relationship. They navigate these obstacles together, while Kilian also grapples with his own personal growth and self-discovery.

Amidst this backdrop, the film delves into the dark history of Spanish colonization and the brutality inflicted on the native Guinean people. Kilian becomes aware of the oppressive practices used on the plantations, as well as the corruption within the industry.

As the years go by, Kilian and Bisila face a series of trials and tribulations that test their love and strength. They must endure the pain of loss, including the death of loved ones and the disintegration of their own family. Kilian's brother, Jacobo, also struggles with his own demons, further complicating their lives on the island.

Throughout the film, Palm Trees in the Snow explores themes of love, family, identity, and the dark history of colonialism. It also sheds light on the struggle for independence and the fight against slavery on both personal and societal levels. Ultimately, Kilian's journey takes him through a tumultuous two decades, as he learns about himself, confronts the harsh realities of colonialism, and strives to find his own path in a changing world.
