In the movie "The Whistleblower," Kathryn Bolkovac, a police officer from Nebraska, decides to take on a mission as a United Nations peacekeeper in post-war Bosnia. Her intention is to make good money to support her family back home. However, her time in Bosnia takes a dark turn when she stumbles upon a shocking and horrifying secret.

Kathryn begins working as a human rights investigator for the U.N. and is assigned to the Gender Affairs office. During her work, she becomes suspicious of the behavior of certain U.N. personnel and diplomats, who seem to be involved in a sex trafficking ring. Kathryn discovers that numerous young women from Eastern Europe, specifically Ukraine, are being forced into prostitution and subjected to horrendous abuse.

Determined to uncover the truth and bring justice to the victims, Kathryn starts collecting evidence and testimonies of the atrocities taking place. She faces numerous obstacles, including intimidation, bribery, and threats from powerful individuals involved in the conspiracy. Even some of her colleagues and superiors are not to be trusted.

As Kathryn delves deeper into her investigation, she realizes the extent of the international conspiracy that has been put in place to protect those involved in the trafficking ring. She discovers that there are high-ranking officials from various countries, including members of the United Nations, who are actively covering up the crimes.

Despite the dangers and risks to her own life, Kathryn remains determined to expose the truth. She allies herself with a fellow peacekeeper, Madeleine Rees (Vanessa Redgrave), who is the head of the U.N. Human Rights Commission in Bosnia. Together, they continue their fight against the corruption and do everything in their power to rescue the young girls and bring their captors to justice.

In her quest for justice, Kathryn faces great personal sacrifices and puts herself in grave danger. As the international conspiracy becomes more aware of her actions, they escalate their efforts to silence her and neutralize her investigation. However, Kathryn's persistence and courageous actions have a greater impact than anticipated, as she manages to attract media attention to the scandal.

"The Whistleblower" is a gripping and intense thriller that exposes the harrowing truth about the sex trafficking industry and the dark side of international peacekeeping efforts. Kathryn Bolkovac's bravery and determination serve as an inspiration in the face of corruption and injustice.
