"The Clan" is a 2015 Argentine crime drama film directed by Pablo Trapero. Based on real-life events, the movie delves into the dark and shocking story of the Puccio family and their series of kidnappings during the early 1980s.

The plot centers around Arquímedes Puccio, the patriarch of the family and a former intelligence officer for the military dictatorship. After the Falklands War, which deeply affected Puccio's patriotic and nationalistic beliefs, he becomes disillusioned with his country and decides to take matters into his own hands.

With the help of his eldest son, Alejandro, Arquímedes orchestrates a series of kidnappings targeting wealthy individuals whom they believe can pay substantial ransoms. The family sets up their victims in the basement of their comfortable suburban home in San Isidro, Buenos Aires.

The kidnappings are carried out with meticulous planning and execution, with the Puccios using their social status and connections to unsuspectingly lure victims into their home. The hostages endure horrifying conditions and psychological torture, leading some of them to comply with their captors to survive.

As the kidnappings continue, tensions within the Puccio family start to rise. Alejandro, a promising rugby player, becomes increasingly conflicted about his involvement in the criminal activities. Meanwhile, the rest of the family, including Arquímedes' wife, children, and even their friends, appear complicit in the crimes or oblivious to their true nature.

With each kidnapping, the Puccios' double life becomes riskier, especially as they attract the attention of the authorities. A journalist named Roberto Díaz starts investigating the disappearances, uncovering clues that lead him closer to the Puccio family and their sinister secret.

As the pressure mounts, Alejandro finds himself torn between loyalty to his family and his desire to break free from the cycle of violence. In a shocking turn of events, the Puccio family's crimes are exposed to the public, leading to their arrest and subsequent trial.

"The Clan" provides a disturbing portrayal of a seemingly ordinary upper-class family and explores the complex dynamics that fueled their criminal activities. The movie exposes themes of corruption, abuse of power, and the price some are willing to pay for power and control.
