In the movie Straw Dogs, David and Amy Sumner, played by Dustin Hoffman and Susan George, move to the tranquil village of Amy's childhood in Cornwall, England. David, an introverted mathematician, hopes to find peace and finish his academic work in the quiet countryside.

However, the idyllic setting quickly turns hostile as David is viewed by the villagers as an outsider and intellectuals are generally frowned upon. Led by Amy's ex-boyfriend Charlie Venner, played by Del Henney, a group of local men taunt and belittle David, undermining his confidence and masculinity.

As tensions rise, Charlie and his friends continuously test David's patience, pushing him to his limits. Despite his pacifistic nature, David tries to maintain peace and resolve the escalating conflicts with reason and rationality. However, the villagers' relentless bullying culminates in a brutal attack on the couple's home, where Amy is violently assaulted by Charlie and another local man.

Shocked and traumatized by the assault on his wife, David is forced to confront his own repressed anger and unleash a shocking and unexpected violent side of himself. Seeking justice and vengeance, he takes matters into his own hands, fiercely defending his home against the violent attackers.

The latter part of the film focuses on the intense psychological and physical battle that ensues between David and the villagers. Themes of masculinity, power dynamics, and primal instincts come to the forefront as David fights to protect himself and his wife.

Straw Dogs delves into the depths of human behavior, exploring the fine line between civility and savagery. It poses thought-provoking questions about violence, morality, and the lengths one will go to defend what they love.
