Jeff, Who Lives at Home is a 2011 comedy-drama film directed by brothers Jay and Mark Duplass. The movie follows 30-year-old Jeff, a slacker who lives in his mother's basement and spends most of his time searching for meaning and signs of destiny in his mundane life.

One day, Jeff's mother Sharon asks him to pick up some wood glue from the store, which she needs for a household repair. Jeff sees this as a sign of destiny and believes that the universe is guiding him towards something significant. He sets off on his errand, with hopes of finding his purpose along the way.

However, instead of simply buying the wood glue and returning home, Jeff becomes sidetracked when he spots his older brother Pat on a date with a mysterious woman. Intrigued and suspicious, Jeff decides to follow Pat throughout the day, convinced that he is tracking Pat's possibly adulterous wife.

As Jeff closely observes his brother, he starts to unearth hidden truths about Pat's life. Meanwhile, Pat is going through a personal crisis of his own, as he contemplates leaving his wife due to his own suspicions of her infidelity. The two brothers, while dealing with their own dilemmas, inadvertently cross paths throughout the day, leading to unexpected confrontations and emotional revelations.

While on this unexpected journey, Jeff and Pat both face numerous challenges and revelations about themselves and their relationships with others. Their personal quests for meaning and purpose intertwine, ultimately leading them to a climactic moment of self-discovery and a realization of what truly matters in life.

Jeff, Who Lives at Home explores themes of fate, family, and personal growth, presenting a humorous and at times poignant depiction of how seemingly ordinary lives can be filled with extraordinary moments of self-realization and connection.
