"The Little Things" follows the story of Deacon "Deke" Kern County, a seasoned and burnt-out deputy sheriff, who is haunted by a dark secret from his past. Deke's intuition and keen eye for detail, especially in noticing the "little things" at crime scenes, have helped him solve numerous cases throughout his career.

When a series of brutal murders occurs in Kern County, Deke becomes involved in the investigation, teaming up with Jim Baxter, a detective from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD). Baxter is younger, ambitious, and eager to make a name for himself. He quickly realizes that Deke's unconventional methods and instincts may hold the key to catching the elusive killer.

As Deke and Baxter delve deeper into the disturbing case, they uncover clues and evidence that seemingly point to a prime suspect, Albert Sparma. Sparma is a peculiar and creepy yet intelligent loner who consistently taunts the detectives, hinting at his involvement in the murders but strategically avoiding any concrete evidence connecting him to the crimes.

Driven by the need to solve the case and haunted by the victims' faces, Deke becomes increasingly obsessed with Sparma, willing to go to extreme lengths to prove his guilt. However, his relentless pursuit and willingness to bend the rules draw Baxter into a moral dilemma. Baxter must wrestle with the ethical implications of Deke's actions, questioning how far they should go to find justice and whether the ends justify the means.

As the two detectives push boundaries and come closer to discovering the truth, the line between right and wrong begins to blur. The pressure intensifies as past mistakes and buried secrets resurface, threatening to unravel both Deke and Baxter's lives.

"The Little Things" explores themes of obsession, guilt, morality, and the psychological toll of being a detective. It poses thought-provoking questions about the lengths one is willing to go to solve a case, the consequences of crossing ethical boundaries, and the burden of carrying secrets.
