In the movie "Run Silent, Run Deep," Captain David Richardson is haunted by the loss of his previous submarine, USS Corsair, which was sunk by a Japanese destroyer during World War II. Resentful of being stuck in a desk job, Richardson is offered a chance to command a new submarine, USS Nerka.

Driven by a single-minded thirst for revenge, Richardson becomes obsessed with hunting down and sinking the Japanese destroyer that had destroyed his previous vessel.
