In the movie Perfect Stranger, investigative reporter Rowena Price (played by Halle Berry) becomes determined to uncover the truth behind the murder of her best friend Grace. Rowena suspects that the murderer is none other than powerful businessman Harrison Hill (played by Bruce Willis), who she believes had a secret affair with Grace.
In order to gather evidence against Hill, Rowena decides to go undercover and pose as a temp at his company. She creates a new identity online and engages in a game of cat-and-mouse with Hill, using various anonymous online accounts to try and extract incriminating information from him.
