Wake Wood is a 2011 horror movie directed by David Keating. The film follows the story of Patrick and Louise Daley, a grieving couple who tragically lost their young daughter, Alice, in a vicious dog attack in the small town of Wake Wood, Ireland.

Unable to overcome their profound sorrow, the couple moves to Wake Wood seeking a fresh start. Unbeknownst to them, the town harbors a dark secret. It is home to a pagan ritual practiced by the townsfolk, known as the "Laying of the Hands," which allows bereaved parents to bring their deceased children back to life for a limited period.

Desperate to be reunited with Alice, Patrick and Louise seek out the help of Arthur, a local veterinarian who is intimately acquainted with the ritual. Arthur reluctantly agrees to assist them despite knowing the dangerous consequences of tampering with life and death.

Under Arthur's guidance, the couple undergoes an elaborate ritual that involves a series of complex ceremonies, incantations, and injections. To their amazement, Alice is resurrected, but there's a catch – she can only return for three days.

Initially overjoyed to have their daughter back, Patrick and Louise relish every moment with her. However, as the three-day deadline approaches, Alice starts exhibiting increasingly disturbing behavior, indicating that the resurrection has come with unforeseen consequences.

Secrets are uncovered as the parents delve deeper into Wake Wood's past, revealing its dark history and the horrifying price paid for manipulating the natural order of life and death. As the deadline looms, the townspeople become more desperate to complete the ritual, endangering the lives of everyone involved.

With time running out and faced with a growing terror, Patrick and Louise must make an agonizing decision. They must choose between their desire to keep Alice and protecting her from the haunting consequences of her resurrection.

Wake Wood explores themes of grief, loss, and the lengths parents would go to bring their child back. It blends elements of supernatural horror with psychological suspense to create a chilling tale that questions the boundaries of life, death, and the power of the human will.
