In the movie "Edge," inspired by Frederick Forsyth's novel "The Day of the Jackal," "The Jackal" refers to the internationally renowned and elusive assassin who is approached by a group of disgruntled French generals. The generals, unsatisfied with President Charles de Gaulle's policies and leadership, want to remove him from power by any means necessary.

The Jackal, notorious for his precise skill set, is offered an enormous sum of money to carry out the assassination. Intrigued by the complexity and challenge of the mission, he accepts the offer. With his reputation preceding him, the Jackal meticulously plans his every move, leaving no room for error.

Meanwhile, alerted to the threat upon the President's life, the French government assigns a dedicated gendarme, code-named "Edge," to track down and apprehend the Jackal before he can complete his assignment. Determined, Edge embarks on a relentless pursuit, using all his resources, skills, and intelligence network to stay one step ahead of the skilled assassin.

As the Jackal delves deeper into his operation, he gathers essential information and resources, such as forged passports, hidden identities, and a vast array of weaponry. He navigates through a dangerous world of underground contacts, mercenaries, and criminals, all while devising a plan so intricately designed it remains undetected by authorities.

Edge, fueled by his loyalty to President de Gaulle and his sense of duty, employs various investigative techniques to gather information about the Jackal's next move. He interviews informants, reviews surveillance footage, and scrutinizes every detail. The gendarme's sleuthing skills and resourcefulness slowly start to narrow the gap between them.

As the Jackal closes in on his intended target, tension mounts, and the stakes become incredibly high. Edge becomes increasingly desperate, knowing that time is running out to prevent the assassination. He races against the clock, working relentlessly to piece together enough clues to identify the Jackal's true identity and stop him before he reaches President de Gaulle.

The movie takes audiences on an intense and suspenseful journey as the Jackal's plans are set in motion, and Edge's tireless pursuit reaches its climax. The story is a thrilling cat-and-mouse game filled with twists, turns, and unexpected developments that keep viewers on the edge of their seats until the final moment.
