"A.C.O.D." (Adult Children of Divorce) is a 2013 comedy film that follows the story of Carter, a grown man still caught in the middle of his parents' tumultuous divorce. When Carter discovers that he was unknowingly part of a study on divorced children as a child, he becomes enlisted in a follow-up study years later. This revelation and his participation in the study wreaks new havoc on his family.

As Carter is pulled back into the chaotic world of his parents' divorce, he realizes that their bitter animosity has never truly subsided. His mother, Catherine, is a self-centered and manipulative woman who constantly uses her divorce as a weapon against his father, Hugh. On the other hand, his father Hugh is constantly trying to maintain a sense of normalcy while secretly harboring deep resentment towards his ex-wife.

To make matters worse, Carter's younger brother Trey announces his engagement, forcing the estranged family to come together for the wedding planning. Carter, now burdened with the knowledge of his participation in the study, is determined to uncover the truth behind its intentions and expose the negative impact it has had on his life and his family's dynamics.

Amidst the chaos, Carter seeks guidance from his childhood therapist, Dr. Judith, who was also part of the original study. Driven by his desire to find closure and finally move on from his parents' divorce, Carter navigates a web of deceit, hidden agendas, and unexpected revelations.

Throughout the movie, Carter must confront the challenges of reconciling his past, healing his relationships, and finding a way to move forward. As the truth about the study and its consequences unravel, Carter's actions threaten to further destabilize his family dynamics and potentially sever already fragile bonds.

In the end, "A.C.O.D." explores themes of forgiveness, acceptance, and the lasting impacts of divorce on families. It provides a comedic and sometimes bittersweet portrayal of the chaos that can ensue when adult children are caught in the crossfire of their parents' unresolved issues.
