Coconut Hero is a coming-of-age dark comedy film that follows the story of Mike Tyson (not the boxer), a socially awkward and deeply unhappy teenager. Set in the small Canadian town of Faintville, Mike feels disconnected from the world and longs for an escape from his mundane existence.

Living with his nagging mother, they have a strained relationship, and Mike has no father figure or close friends to confide in. He feels like an outsider and spends most of his time alone, trying to cope with the monotonous routine of his life.

One day, overwhelmed by his despair, Mike decides to take matters into his own hands and writes his own obituary. Riddled with a sense of hopelessness, he attempts to end his life by shooting himself. However, his plan fails, and he wakes up in the local hospital.

During a routine examination, the doctors discover a plum-sized tumor in Mike's brain. Instead of feeling devastated, Mike sees this unexpected turn of events as an opportunity. He chooses to keep his illness a secret, fearing that the surgery to remove the tumor would save him. He prefers to face death rather than go back to his miserable existence.

As Mike confronts the possibility of his own mortality, his perspective on life changes. He begins to re-evaluate his relationships and finds solace in an unlikely friendship with Miranda, a rebellious and free-spirited girl. Miranda understands Mike in ways that others do not, and their connection provides him with a sense of belonging and hope.

As the story progresses, Mike's friendship with Miranda flourishes, allowing him to gradually open up and see the beauty in life's little moments. With death looming over him, he starts to appreciate the uniqueness of his own existence and the potential for happiness and self-discovery.

Coconut Hero explores themes of isolation, teenage angst, and finding meaning in life. Through Mike's journey, the film delves into the complexities of human emotions and the transformative power of unexpected circumstances.
