In the movie Windtalkers, Joe Enders (played by Nicolas Cage) is a battle-hardened Marine who is assigned the crucial duty of protecting a Navajo "windtalker" named Private Ben Yahzee (played by Adam Beach). During World War II, the United States military utilized the Navajo language as a secret code that the Japanese code breakers couldn't decipher.

Joe's mission is to ensure the safety of the windtalker at all costs, as the Japanese are desperate to capture and decode the messages being transmitted. The film follows Joe and Ben as they form an unlikely bond and navigate the treacherous battlefield of the Pacific.

As they face various obstacles and encounters with the enemy, Joe starts to question the morality of his mission. He realizes that he may have to make difficult decisions that could sacrifice the life of his fellow Marine in order to protect the valuable code. Additionally, tensions arise within their unit as some soldiers begin questioning the importance of the windtalkers' lives compared to their own.

The film also features another windtalker, Private Charlie Whitehorse (played by Roger Willie), who forms a close friendship with a Marine named Private Ox Henderson (played by Christian Slater). Together, they provide additional protection and participate in intense combat situations alongside Joe and Ben.

As the battle escalates and lives are lost, Joe makes a tremendous sacrifice to save Ben and ensure the survival of the Navajo code. The movie explores themes of duty, honor, sacrifice, and the personal struggles faced by soldiers during war.
