In the movie "Addicted to Fresno," the two co-dependent sisters, Martha and Shannon, are portrayed by Judy Greer and Natasha Lyonne, respectively. Martha, the older sister, is a recovering sex addict who is desperately trying to turn her life around and find stability. Shannon, the younger sister, is a lonely lesbian who longs for a romantic relationship and feels stuck in her mundane life.

The sisters work as hotel maids in Fresno, a seemingly monotonous job that adds to their frustration and dissatisfaction. However, their lives take an unexpected turn when a mishap occurs while they clean one of the hotel rooms. In a moment of panic, they accidentally cause the death of a guest.

Terrified of the consequences, Martha and Shannon go to ludicrous lengths to cover up their accidental crime, sparking a series of outrageous and chaotic events. They embark on a journey full of misadventures, dark humor, and unexpected encounters as they desperately try to keep their secret hidden and avoid the authorities.

As their actions escalate, Martha and Shannon find themselves entangled in a web of lies, involving eccentric characters such as a suspicious hotel manager (played by Molly Shannon), a nosy coworker (played by Aubrey Plaza), a naïve local detective (played by Ron Livingston), and others.

Amidst the chaos and frantic attempts to hide their accidental crime, the sisters become entangled in personal journeys of self-discovery. Martha grapples with her addiction and learns to confront her past mistakes, finding the strength to build a healthier future. Shannon, on the other hand, navigates her own desires and strives to find love and a sense of belonging.

Throughout the film, the bond between the two sisters is tested as they face unforeseen obstacles, imminent exposure, and moral dilemmas. Their relationship is ultimately challenged, forcing them to confront their codependency and seek personal growth and independence.

"Addicted to Fresno" is a dark comedy that combines unconventional humor with a poignant exploration of personal struggles, redemption, and the unbreakable bonds of sisterhood.
