In the movie Search Party, the two oafs are named Nardo and Jason, and their stranded friend is named Tracy. The story begins when Nardo decides to impulsively marry his girlfriend, Tracy, and they plan their wedding in Mexico. However, on the wedding day, Nardo gets cold feet and decides he can't go through with it, leaving Tracy heartbroken.
Sometime later, Nardo realizes his mistake and tries to win Tracy back. He decides to surprise her by flying to Mexico and crashes the wedding ceremony, but he unexpectedly gets kidnapped by a Mexican drug cartel. Nardo manages to contact Jason, his best friend, and desperately asks for his help.
Jason, a slacker working a dead-end job, sees this as an opportunity for an adventure and gets his other friend, Evan, involved. The two friends embark on a journey to rescue Nardo and bring him back safely.
Their journey takes them through the Mexican desert, encountering various obstacles and dangerous situations. Along the way, they cross paths with hilarious and eccentric characters, including drug dealers, a charismatic Russian bride, and a drug lord.
