In the movie "Diabolique," the story revolves around Michel Delassalle, a tyrannical and abusive schoolmaster, his wife, Christina Delassalle, and Nicole Horner, his mistress and fellow teacher at the school.

Christina, who is frail and ill, desires freedom from her tormentor and decides to enlist Nicole's help in murdering Michel.
