In the movie Mid90s, Stevie, a 13-year-old boy, is struggling with the challenges of adolescence in the mid-1990s. Despite having a caring and attentive mother, she tends to overshare details about her romantic life, which leaves Stevie feeling a bit uncomfortable. Additionally, his older brother is a violent and intimidating bully, which further isolates Stevie within his own family dynamic.

Desperate to find a sense of belonging and escape his troubled home life, Stevie stumbles upon the Motor Avenue skate shop, a hub for the local skateboarding community. Intrigued by the rebellious and carefree nature of the skaters, he becomes enthralled by their lifestyle and dreams of becoming a part of their group.

As Stevie spends more time at the skate shop, he immerses himself in the subculture and starts to build relationships with the crew, including Ray, the shop owner, who becomes a mentor figure to him. Stevie is welcomed into the tight-knit community of skateboarders, learning not only how to master tricks on his skateboard but also gaining valuable life lessons and friendships.

Through his newfound friendships, Stevie explores the boundaries of his own identity and grapples with the joys and challenges of teenage life. He experiences the thrill and exhilaration of skateboarding, the first hints of romance, and the camaraderie of his newfound friends.

However, as Stevie delves deeper into the skateboarding world, he also witnesses the darker sides of the subculture. He becomes exposed to excessive partying, dangerous behavior, and substance abuse among some of the skaters. These experiences force Stevie to confront his own limits and question the kind of person he wants to become.

Throughout the film, Stevie navigates the complexities of adolescence, coming of age in a time of both self-discovery and rebellion. Mid90s explores the themes of identity, family dynamics, peer pressure, and the search for belonging in a vivid portrayal of the skateboarding scene in 1990s Los Angeles.
