The film "You Were Never Really Here" follows the story of Joe, a traumatised war veteran and former FBI agent suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). He now lives a life as a hitman, tracking down missing girls and rescuing them from sex trafficking rings.

Joe is approached by a wealthy New York State Senator, Albert Votto, whose teenage daughter Nina has gone missing. He hires Joe to find her and bring her back safely. As Joe begins his investigation, he realizes that the case is far more complex than he initially thought.

During his search, Joe encounters corrupt police officers, politicians, and powerful businessmen who are involved in the sex trafficking industry. These individuals will stop at nothing to protect their illicit activities, and as Joe starts to dig deeper, he becomes a target himself.

Haunted by flashbacks of his past and tormented by his own inner demons, Joe's mental state begins to deteriorate. He suffers from vivid nightmares and is consumed by a deep sense of guilt and regret for the violence he has inflicted on others in the past.

As he navigates this treacherous world, Joe forms a bond with a young girl named Nina, who becomes pivotal to the unfolding conspiracy. Together, they fight against their oppressors, seeking justice and redemption.

Throughout the film, the line between reality and Joe's traumatic memories blurs, leaving the audience uncertain about what is truly happening. Torn between his desire for revenge and his yearning for inner peace, Joe embarks on a dangerous journey that could lead to either his ultimate demise or a cathartic awakening.

"You Were Never Really Here" is a gritty and atmospheric exploration of the psychological effects of violence and trauma. It delves into themes of personal redemption, corruption, and the human capacity for resilience in the face of unimaginable darkness.
