Bob Jones is a successful advertising executive who, upon learning of his terminal illness, begins to reassess his life and relationships. He initially struggles to accept his diagnosis, but ultimately decides to make the most of the time he has left by creating the video diary for his unborn child.

As Bob works on the video diary, he reflects on his past, including his strained relationship with his father, who died when Bob was just a child. He also begins to repair his relationship with his estranged, alcoholic brother, David. As his health deteriorates, Bob becomes increasingly determined to leave a lasting legacy for his child.

Meanwhile, Gail is also dealing with the impending loss of her husband and the uncertainty of becoming a single parent. Despite their looming tragedy, the couple finds moments of joy and connection as they prepare for the arrival of their baby.

As the months pass, Bob's condition worsens, and he eventually dies just before his son is born. The film ends with Gail watching Bob's video diary, filled with messages of love, advice, and encouragement for their child.
