Ping Pong Summer is a coming-of-age comedy set in 1985 that follows the life of a shy and awkward teenager named Rad Miracle. The movie begins with Rad and his family, consisting of his unemployed father, overprotective mother, and obnoxious older sister, embarking on their annual summer vacation to Ocean City, Maryland.

Rad, who is infatuated with table tennis and dreams of becoming a professional player, spends most of his time at the local beach arcade playing ping pong. His obsession with the sport extends to his room, which is filled with ping pong posters, a table, and other related paraphernalia.

Despite his immense love for table tennis, Rad is socially awkward and struggles to fit in with his peers. This changes when he befriends a local African-American kid named Teddy, who introduces him to the vibrant world of hip-hop music and dance. Teddy teaches Rad how to breakdance and introduces him to a group of kids who share his passions.

Rad sees this summer as an opportunity to reinvent himself and gather the courage to approach his childhood crush, Stacy Summers. Unfortunately, Rad's attempts to impress Stacy often lead to embarrassing situations. Additionally, Rad finds himself facing off against Lyle, a skilled and arrogant ping pong player who belittles Rad's abilities.

As the summer progresses, Rad continues to improve his ping pong skills and gains confidence through the support of his newfound friends. Rad's table tennis prowess catches the attention of Randy Daytona, a former ping pong champion and Ocean City local who now owns a tiki-themed bar. Inspired by Randy's advice and encouragement, Rad enters a local ping pong tournament, hoping to finally prove himself.

Despite encountering setbacks and self-doubt, Rad perseveres and impresses his friends and the tournament crowd with his skills and determination. Along the way, Rad also learns the importance of staying true to oneself and embracing individuality, rather than conforming to societal expectations.

In the end, Rad's memorable summer vacation in Ocean City helps him shed his shy and insecure persona, enabling him to face the challenges of growing up with newfound confidence and a greater sense of identity.
