High-Rise is a British dystopian drama film based on J.G. Ballard's 1975 novel of the same name. The movie depicts the unraveling of the social fabric within a luxury high-rise apartment building.

The story follows Dr. Robert Laing, a young physiologist who moves into a newly constructed high-rise tower block. The tower is a self-contained world, offering all amenities, including a pool, supermarket, gym, and even a school, creating a sense of isolation from the outside world. The residents, predominantly middle to upper-class professionals, enjoy an idyllic and privileged lifestyle.

However, as time goes by, tensions begin to arise within the high-rise society. The lower levels band together under the charismatic and rebellious Wilder.

The residents lose their societal constraints, engaging in hedonistic behavior and indulging in their darkest desires. He develops relationships with both Charlotte, a woman living on the lower floors, and Helen, a mother figure on one of the higher levels, blurring the boundaries between the classes.

As the high-rise society crumbles, Laing becomes an integral part of the growing turmoil, navigating the enigmatic power structures and forming alliances on both sides. He witnesses the destruction and decay of the tower block from the inside, ultimately questioning his own sanity and morality.
