In the movie Passengers, the spacecraft is named the "Starship Avalon" and is transporting 5,000 passengers in hibernation pods to a distant colony planet called "Homestead II." The journey is expected to take 120 years.
However, 30 years into the voyage, the spaceship encounters a severe asteroid collision that causes a malfunction in one of the hibernation pods. As a result, engineer Jim Preston (played by Chris Pratt) is prematurely awakened from his sleep chamber.
Stranded alone onboard the ship with no way to re-enter hibernation, Jim finds himself struggling with his isolation and the prospect of spending the rest of his life alone.
