In the movie "Hostiles," Captain Joseph J. Blocker, a seasoned and battle-hardened Army captain, is given the final assignment of his career in 1892. He is ordered to escort Chief Yellow Hawk, a dying Cheyenne war chief, and his family from a New Mexico prison camp back to their tribal land in Montana.

Initially, Blocker is deeply prejudiced against Native Americans, and over the years, he has gained a reputation for his hatred towards them. Reluctantly, he accepts the task, understanding that this will be a difficult journey through dangerous territory inhabited by hostile tribes.

As they embark on their journey, Blocker's unit encounters various obstacles and conflicts, including brutal and tense encounters with other Native American tribes who are hostile to their presence. These encounters force both Blocker and Yellow Hawk to confront their own prejudices and challenges their long-held beliefs.

As the arduous journey continues, Blocker's initial disdain for Yellow Hawk gradually transforms into respect and understanding. He realizes that despite his own losses and pain caused by Native Americans, they are not all savages, but people with their own struggles and suffering. Along the way, the group also encounters and rescues Rosalie Quaid, a traumatized woman whose family was brutally murdered by a Comanche war party.

Throughout the journey, the characters face numerous trials, both internal and external, which test their willpower, compassion, and understanding. Their collective survival hinges on their ability to work together, overcoming their differences and past grievances.

As they reach the Montana reservation, the group faces one final tragic incident that serves as a devastating reminder of the violence and hatred that has plagued both Native Americans and the settlers. Despite the sadness and loss, the journey ultimately becomes an opportunity for growth and reconciliation for all involved.

"Hostiles" is a powerful and thought-provoking film that explores themes of redemption, forgiveness, and the capacity for change in the face of deep-rooted prejudice.
