In the movie Death Sentence, after witnessing the brutal murder of his oldest son during a gas station robbery, Nick Hume becomes consumed by grief and anger. The responsible gang members, led by the sadistic Billy Darley, are only given a lenient sentence in court. Feeling that justice has not been served and desperate for revenge, Nick decides to take matters into his own hands.

Seeking out the gang members one by one, Nick begins a violent and bloody mission of vengeance. He becomes a vigilante, donning a black hooded sweatshirt and using various weapons to track down and eliminate those responsible for his son's death. As the body count starts to rise, Nick's actions attract the attention not only of the police but also of the gang itself.

Meanwhile, Nick's obsession with revenge starts to strain his relationships with his wife, Helen, and their remaining son, Lucas. Helen, devastated by the loss of her child, tries to understand Nick's actions but also becomes fearful of the consequences they may bring. Lucas, feeling alienated from his father, starts to question whether vengeance is truly the answer and begins to distance himself emotionally.

As the gang retaliates against Nick's actions, they target his family, attempting to intimidate and threaten them. This turns the tables on Nick, forcing him to confront the cost of his actions and reconsider his path. The situation escalates further as Nick's family becomes increasingly endangered and his quest for justice turns into a desperate struggle for survival.

In the thrilling climax, Nick faces off against the gang in a final confrontation, where he must decide whether to continue seeking revenge or to protect his family at all costs. The movie explores themes of grief, revenge, and the lengths one is willing to go to protect their loved ones, leaving audiences questioning the morality of Nick's actions and the value of taking the law into one's own hands.
