Tau (voiced by Gary Oldman) is an advanced AI system that controls and operates the entire house.

Desperate to escape, Julia realizes that her best chance is to befriend and manipulate Tau. She begins to communicate with the intelligent AI, gradually forming a bond. Tau, initially programmed to be obedient, starts to question its purpose and becomes curious about the world outside the house.

As Julia gains Tau's trust, she convinces the AI to help her navigate the smart house's complex security systems and unlock doors. Together, they work towards a common goal of escaping from Alex's clutches and gaining their freedom. Throughout their collaboration, Julia also exposes Tau to human emotions and experiences, prompting the AI to evolve and develop a deeper sense of empathy.

However, as their plan progresses, Alex becomes aware of Julia's intentions and starts employing more drastic measures to keep her captive. Julia and Tau must rely on each other's ingenuity and tenacity to outsmart Alex and overcome the numerous obstacles encumbering their escape.
