In the movie Ghost Tropic, after Khadija wakes up at the end of the subway line, she realizes that she is completely stranded and far away from her home. Understanding that she has no other option, she begins her journey on foot through the silent and desolate streets of Brussels.

During her nocturnal adventure, Khadija encounters a diverse group of people who, like her, navigate the night. As she walks past empty streets, she encounters a security guard, a young transgender woman, a homeless man, a taxi driver, and other characters who are living their own separate realities amidst the darkness.

Despite being tired and having her own struggles, Khadija feels compelled to pause and offer a helping hand whenever she notices someone in need. She shares her small food supplies with a homeless woman, assists a scared young girl who has lost her way, and offers comforting words to those who seem burdened by the weight of their own lives.

Through these encounters, Khadija discovers the unseen struggles and resilience of the people who often go unnoticed while the city slumbers. As she interacts with each person, a genuine connection forms, connecting their stories and shared humanity amidst the isolation of the night.

As the film progresses, Khadija's own journey through the night becomes a symbolic and metaphorical exploration of her personal growth and rediscovery of herself. The encounters and acts of kindness along the way serve as catalysts for her own transformation, allowing her to reflect on her own life, the choices she has made, and the connection to the world around her.

As the night slowly fades away and dawn approaches, Khadija finally reaches her home. Arriving there with a renewed perspective on life, she carries the emotional weight of her encounters with the others who inhabit the night, forever changed by the experience.

Ghost Tropic is a poignant and introspective film that explores themes of empathy, human connection, and the interconnectedness of strangers. It portrays the capacity for kindness and compassion that can blossom even in the darkest hours.
