This stranger, who goes by the name of Jeremiah, appears to know more about the town's secrets and power dynamics than he lets on.

Jeremiah approaches Donnie with a risky proposition – to help him take down the town's tyrannical leader, Mayor Harris, in exchange for securing the release of Donnie's mother from Oakwood's primitive mind rehabilitation center. Donnie, desperate to save his mother from the dehumanizing treatment there, reluctantly agrees to assist Jeremiah.

Together, Donnie and Jeremiah begin delving into the dark underbelly of Oakwood. They uncover Mayor Harris's corruption, from embezzlement to blackmail, and how he manipulates the town's remaining citizens to maintain control. As they gather evidence against him, they also gain the support of a small group of locals who have long resented the mayor's oppressive rule.

As their plans progress, however, Donnie becomes torn between his desire to liberate his mother and the consequences their actions may have on the townspeople. He discovers that the situation is far more complex than he initially thought, with deeply entrenched power dynamics, betrayals, and secrets that could destroy the already fragile community.

With tensions running high and the town on the brink of collapse, Donnie and Jeremiah must navigate a treacherous path to bring justice to Oakwood. Along the way, they face numerous challenges, including violent confrontations, personal sacrifices, and doubts about their own motivations.

As they reach the climactic showdown against Mayor Harris, Donnie learns the truth about his own family's connection to the town's troubles, shattering his perceptions of right and wrong. In a final act of redemption, Donnie must decide whether to follow through with their plan, understanding that it may not only alter the course of Oakwood but also forever change his own life.
