The man with dwarfism, named Finbar McBride, inherits an abandoned train station in Newfoundland, New Jersey, from his deceased friend. He moves into the station with the intention of living a solitary life, as he has become accustomed to being treated as an object of curiosity and pity due to his stature.
However, Finbar's plans for solitude are disrupted when he encounters Joe Oramas, a gregarious hot dog vendor who strikes up a conversation with him. Despite initially resisting Joe's attempts at friendship, Finbar eventually begins to open up to him and the two form a tight bond.
Additionally, Finbar meets Olivia Harris, a young woman struggling with her own personal grief and loss. The three of them form an unlikely friendship and find comfort and support in each other as they navigate their individual struggles.
