In the movie Shiloh, Marty becomes determined to save the abused beagle and give him a loving home. He begins secretly caring for Shiloh in the old shed, providing him with food and water. Marty's younger sister, Dara Lynn, eventually discovers Shiloh's hiding spot, but promises not to tell their parents.
As Marty continues to bond with Shiloh, he also learns about the troubled past of Judd Travers, the dog's owner. Marty discovers that Judd is not only abusive towards animals but also mistreats his own dogs.
