"The Round Up" (original title: "La Rafle") is a French film released in 2010, which provides a fictionalized yet historically accurate retelling of the Vel' d'Hiv Roundup, a tragic event that took place in Paris during World War II.

The movie primarily focuses on two main storylines. The first one revolves around the Weiss family, a Jewish family living in Paris. The parents, Schmoel and Sura Weiss, along with their two children, Rachel and Simon, live a relatively happy life until the day of the roundup.

On the morning of July 16, 1942, the French police, under the orders of the Vichy government collaborating with the Nazi occupiers, surround the neighborhood of Vel' d'Hiv, which is predominantly occupied by Jewish families. The Weiss family, along with thousands of other Jewish families, is brutally taken from their homes and gathered in the Vel' d'Hiv cycling stadium, which serves as a makeshift holding center for the Jews before their deportation.

Meanwhile, the second storyline focuses on the character of Dr. David Sheinbaum, who is a fictionalized version of a real-life Jewish doctor named David Sheinbaum. Dr. Sheinbaum, along with his wife, Clara, and their two children, is also arrested during the roundup and sent to the stadium.

Inside the Vel' d'Hiv, the conditions are horrific, with overcrowded and unsanitary facilities. The families are separated, and despite their efforts to stay together, the Weiss family is divided. Rachel, the young daughter, manages to escape, thanks to the help of a sympathetic nurse named Annette Monod. Annette, who works at the rally point, risks her life to save as many Jewish children as possible.

As the days pass, the families in the stadium face uncertainty and despair, knowing that they are destined for deportation to Nazi concentration camps. Amidst this despair, Dr. Sheinbaum becomes increasingly frustrated with the lack of action from the French authorities and decides to take matters into his own hands. He manages to procure poison to help his family and other Jews escape the impending horror.

However, just as Dr. Sheinbaum is about to carry out his desperate plan, the French Red Cross, acting on behalf of the German authorities, arrives to inspect the conditions at Vel' d'Hiv. Afraid of repercussions, the German officers hastily order the immediate deportation of all the Jews in the stadium.

The movie concludes with the tragic separation and deportation of the Jews, including the Weiss family. The fate of the Weiss family is left uncertain, although historical records indicate that many of them, including the children, perished in Nazi concentration camps.

"The Round Up" aims to shed light on a dark period of French history, the collaboration and complacency of the Vichy government, and the heroic individuals who risked everything to save lives during one of the most shameful events of the Holocaust.
