Cinema Sabaya follows the journey of eight women who come from diverse backgrounds, including Arab and Jewish cultures. They all join a video workshop led by Rona, a young and passionate filmmaker. Through the course of the workshop, the women are given the opportunity to explore their beliefs and traditions and how they impact their lives.

As the women work together on various camera takes and projects, the group dynamic begins to foster a deep sense of camaraderie and friendship. Initially, the women may hold preconceived notions and prejudices about each other due to their cultural differences. However, as they spend more time together, they slowly begin to challenge these beliefs and open up to understanding one another.

Each woman has her own unique story and struggles that are brought to light during their interactions. They share their experiences, frustrations, and joys, making them realize that despite their differences, they share many commonalities and face similar challenges.

Throughout the workshop, Rona encourages the women to express themselves honestly and authentically, guiding them to explore various topics that are often considered taboo in their respective communities. This includes discussions on gender roles, religion, family, and societal expectations. These conversations not only help the women to develop a better understanding of one another but also encourage personal growth and self-discovery.

As the women delve deeper into their own beliefs and engage in conversations with others from different backgrounds, the workshop becomes a transformative experience for each participant. They gain new perspectives, challenge their preconceptions, and build bridges between their communities.

With each camera take and filmmaking exercise, the women find their voices becoming stronger and more empowered. Their stories intertwine and weave together, creating a beautiful and authentic portrayal of the struggles and triumphs they face as women living in a complex and divided society.

Cinema Sabaya ultimately highlights the power of art and storytelling in breaking down barriers, fostering understanding, and promoting empathy and compassion among diverse communities.
