The movie Dangal is set in the rural village of Balali, Haryana, India, where Mahavir Singh Phogat, a former amateur wrestler, dreams of winning a gold medal for his country. However, due to societal pressures and financial constraints, Mahavir's wrestling career is cut short, and he is forced to give up his dreams.

Determined to fulfill his unfulfilled dreams through his children, Mahavir relentlessly searches for a worthy male heir to train as a wrestler. Eventually, his wife gives birth to four daughters: Geeta, Babita, Ritu, and Sangita. Disheartened at first, Mahavir soon realizes that he can still train his daughters to become champions.

At a young age, Geeta and Babita show exceptional strength and a passion for wrestling. Mahavir decides to break away from societal norms and begin their rigorous training. Facing criticism and ridicule from their community, Mahavir trains his daughters with great discipline, pushing them beyond their limits. He employs unconventional methods, such as making them cut their hair short and fight against boys, to toughen them up.

As the girls grow older, they face various challenges in their wrestling journey. They undergo intense physical training, endurance tests, and must also battle against gender bias and societal pressure. Geeta eventually wins the National Women's Wrestling Championship, becoming the first Indian female wrestler to do so. Babita also achieves notable success in wrestling.

However, as Geeta starts participating in international competitions, she faces difficulties adapting to the new techniques and strategies used by foreign wrestlers. Her overconfidence leads to a series of defeats, and she starts doubting her abilities. Feeling lost, Geeta rebels against her father's strict coaching style and leaves the training camp.

Heartbroken and determined to bring Geeta back, Mahavir convinces her to return. With renewed dedication, Geeta realizes the value of her father's coaching and rediscovers her love for wrestling. She works hard and ultimately becomes the first Indian female wrestler to win a gold medal in the Commonwealth Games.

The movie Dangal showcases the incredible journey of Mahavir Singh Phogat and his daughters, highlighting the difficulties they face as they challenge traditional gender roles and strive to achieve greatness in the male-dominated sport of wrestling. It is a tale of perseverance, family support, and the power of dreams.
