In the movie "The Hitcher," a young man named Jim Halsey embarks on a road trip across the country. Along the way, he encounters a hitchhiker named John Ryder, who seems harmless at first. However, Jim soon realizes that Ryder is a psychotic serial killer.

Terrified, Jim manages to escape from Ryder's clutches, leaving him stranded on the side of the road.
