In the movie Lord of the Flies, a plane carrying a group of British schoolboys is shot down during a wartime evacuation. The boys, varying in age from around 6 to 12, find themselves stranded on a remote and uninhabited island in the Pacific Ocean. With no adults surviving the crash, the boys must learn to rely on themselves and establish a system to survive.

Initially, the boys try to maintain order and establish a civilization by electing a leader named Ralph. Ralph, along with his newfound friend Piggy, focuses on building shelters, creating a signal fire to attract rescue, and establishing rules to maintain order and cooperation. They also devise a system of using a conch shell, which grants the holder the right to speak during meetings.

However, chaos starts to unfold when a power struggle emerges between Ralph and a boy named Jack, who is in charge of the hunting group. Jack becomes obsessed with hunting and desires to become the leader himself. Slowly but steadily, the boys start losing their civilized behavior and give in to their primal instincts.

As time passes, a group of boys, including Jack, begins to paint their faces, wear tribal clothing, and engage in acts of violence. They descend into savagery and embrace the idea of hunting and killing a mythical beast that is believed to be lurking on the island. This savagery reaches its height when they brutally murder one of the boys, Simon, mistaking him for the beast during a frenzied ritual.

Meanwhile, the relationship between Ralph and Piggy deteriorates, as the power-hungry Jack manages to sway most of the boys to his side, leaving Ralph and Piggy isolated. Jack's group starts to establish their own dominance by stealing fire from Ralph's group and eventually seizing Piggy's glasses, which they use to create fire for their own purposes.

Amidst the growing brutality and tribalism of Jack's group, only a few boys, led by Ralph, remain true to their civilized values. Ralph, Piggy, and a few loyal followers try to resist Jack's rule and maintain hope for a rescue. However, their efforts ultimately fail when Jack's group decides to hunt Ralph down, intent on killing him.

As the movie reaches its climax, Ralph's desperate attempt to escape leads to his encounter with a British naval officer, who arrives on the island after seeing the smoke from Jack's out-of-control fire. The officer rescues the boys, bringing them back to civilization where they are confronted with the stark contrast between their former civilized selves and the savage beings they had become.

Lord of the Flies explores various themes including the inherent evil within human nature, the loss of innocence, the struggle between civilization and savagery, and the fragility of societal norms in the face of isolation and chaos.
