After Jason Shepherd's class paper is stolen by Marty Wolf, a famous Hollywood producer, he becomes determined to prove that his story has been plagiarized and turned into a successful movie titled "Big Fat Liar." However, due to Jason's reputation for stretching the truth, no one believes him.

With the help of his best friend Kaylee, Jason embarks on a thrilling cross-country adventure to seek justice and set the record straight. They devise a high-tech plan to expose Marty Wolf and force him to admit to stealing the storyline. Along the way, they encounter numerous obstacles and hilarious situations.

As they journey from their hometown in Michigan to Los Angeles, Jason and Kaylee face various challenges. They encounter a mischievous limo driver named Frank Jackson, who eventually becomes an unlikely ally in their mission. They also have to outsmart Marty Wolf's security team, who are determined to stop them from reaching their goal.

During their adventure, Jason and Kaylee infiltrate Marty Wolf's mansion and create chaos to gather evidence of the theft. They also join forces with unforeseen allies, such as a sympathetic stuntwoman named Monty Kirkham and a friendly janitor named Glen.

Eventually, Jason and Kaylee succeed in collecting undeniable proof of Marty Wolf's plagiarism, including footage of him admitting his theft. With the evidence in hand, they reveal the truth to the world during a live broadcast at the Universal Studios backlot.

As a result, Marty Wolf's reputation is shattered, and he is exposed as a fraud. Jason is finally vindicated, and his classmates, teachers, and parents finally believe his story. The stolen movie is destroyed, and Jason's original class paper is credited back to him.

In the end, Jason and Kaylee return home as heroes, having taught the world a lesson about honesty and the importance of standing up for oneself. The movie concludes with Jason being recognized for his writing talent and receiving numerous offers and opportunities as a young screenwriter.
