In The Lost City, the central focus is on the Fellove family, who are wealthy residents of Havana in the late 1950s. The family consists of Alberto, the eldest son who owns a prominent nightclub called El Tropico, his younger brother Ricardo, and their father Don Federico, a renowned philosophy professor.

As the political climate in Cuba becomes increasingly volatile, with Fidel Castro's guerrilla movement gaining momentum, the Fellove family finds themselves caught in the crossfire. While Alberto initially supports the revolutionary cause, he begins to question the methods and ideology of the Marxist regime as it adopts increasingly radical measures in overthrowing the oppressive regime of Batista.

As the Batista regime crumbles, Castro's forces take control of Havana, plunging the city into turmoil. The Marxist government starts implementing policies that affect the Fellove family's luxurious lifestyle, including seizing their assets and properties. Despite Alberto's initial support, the new regime's oppressive authority and the disappearance of intellectual freedom force him to abandon his ideological beliefs and prioritize his family's survival.

The situation worsens when Alberto's love interest, Aurora, becomes a target of Castro's regime due to her association with opposition forces. Alberto confronts the authorities, demanding her release, but his efforts prove futile. Realizing the dangers they face, Alberto makes the difficult decision to escape to New York City, leaving behind his family, friends, and the life he once knew.

In New York, Alberto tries to adjust to his new life and grapples with the guilt of leaving his loved ones behind. Determined to raise awareness about the oppressive regime in Cuba, Alberto becomes an advocate for Cuban exile communities and dedicates himself to keeping the spirit of Havana alive through his music and nightclub.

The Lost City explores themes of sacrifice, love, political turmoil, and the impacts of revolution on individuals and families. It portrays the heartbreaking reality of those who were forced to abandon everything they knew to seek freedom in a foreign land, while also highlighting the resilience and determination of the Cuban people to preserve their culture and fight for justice.
