In "Sound! Euphonium the Movie - Our Promise: A Brand New Day," Kumiko continues her journey as a member of the Kitauji High School Concert Band. As a second-year student, she has now become one of the senior players in the euphonium section.

With the arrival of new underclassmen, Kumiko and third-year trumpeter Tomoe Kabe are chosen as the leaders to guide and mentor them. The movie focuses on the challenges they face while dealing with these new members.

Among the freshmen joining Kumiko's bass section is Kanade Hisaishi, an euphonist whose appearances are deceiving. Kumiko and the others must learn to understand and connect with her on a deeper level. Additionally, Mirei Suzuki, a tuba player, struggles to adapt to the new environment and find her place within the band.

Satsuki Suzuki, another tuba player, makes it her goal to get along with Mirei, despite the challenges they face. Lastly, there is Motomu Tsukinaga, a double bassist who finds it difficult to open up and talk about himself.

As the plot progresses, the band faces various obstacles, including the Sunrise Festival, chair placement auditions, and a competition. These events create tensions and conflicts within the band, putting their unity and success at risk.

Through their shared experiences and challenges, Kumiko and her fellow musicians must find a way to overcome their differences, communicate effectively, and work together to achieve their goals. The movie explores themes of friendship, teamwork, personal growth, and the pursuit of excellence in music.
